Awareness of Juvenile Arthritis
Juvenile Arthritis can be invisible, many people are not aware that kids can get arthritis too. It can be difficult to diagnose, has no known cause and no known cure. Juvenile Arthritis may be an invisible disability. Pain tollerance can be higher. Children may push themselves despite pain and difficulty moving. One or many joints may be involved. Internal organs, including the eyes may be damaged. Children can seem well at one moment and can not move the next. Some children need to take regular chemotherapy drugs, regular injections of biologic medications, steroid injections into their joints, and take daily medications to reduce pain and swelling and the side effects of other medication. Juvenile Arthritis can take many forms, it can be moderate to severe, last a short time or a life time, and it can cripple, blind and kill. There are ongoing effort across the world and in local communities, to raise awareness of Juvenile Arthritis and to increase understanding of the issues children and parents can face.
